Who We Are
What We Do
How to Help
Twenty-five middle school students from around the world said "hello" in their native languages, from Navajo, to Chinese, to Hebrew, to Welsh on Sunday night. They decorated team posters with catchy names and icebreaker activities.
These students are delegates of the Broadcom MASTERS International 2016 program, and they gathered Sunday night to meet each other and share their love of science. They are gearing up for Broadcom MASTERS International 2016, a concurrent program during Intel ISEF, which is the largest largest international pre-college science competition.
Through Intel ISEF, over 1,700 high school students from more than 75 countries, regions and territories showcase their research this week as they compete for approximately $4 million in prizes. And the Broadcom MASTERS International delegates will get to participate in some of the events of the competition.
During Sunday night's Orientation, the delegates had to figure out how to fit one of their team members through an 8.5' x 11" piece of paper. And then they had to, without speaking, arrange themselves by the size of their favorite animals.
"You're here to become even better at what you do, and to help others achieve their goals too," said Paula Golden, President and Executive Director of the Broadcom Foundation. "You're going to make friends this week who will be your friends for your whole life. And later on, you'll all call each other and solve problems."
This year, the program is welcoming delegates from Malaysia, Puerto Rico, and Vietnam for the first time.
Below are the team's posters:
"I expect to see you at Intel ISEF competing in four years," said Maya Ajmera, the President & CEO of Society for Science & the Public.
Throughout the week, the delegates will attend field trips, walk through the Intel ISEF exhibition hall, and meet other scientifically-engaged peers from around the world.
