ISEF FAQ

Students in grades 9-12 or equivalent must compete in a Regeneron ISEF affiliated science fair and win the right to attend Regeneron ISEF.  Each affiliated fair may send a pre-determined number of projects to ISEF (as calculated by participation and high school population) to compete in 22 different categories.

ISEF Rules FAQ

The ISEF Scientific Review Committee (SRC) has attempted to provide answers to questions that they commonly receive about the International Rules and Guidelines.

Overview of Forms and Dates

The ISEF forms constitute written documentation of what will occur, or in some cases, has already occurred, in a research project. They are designed to provide the information that is needed to review the project to ensure compliance with the ISEF rules and with laws and regulations that apply to the project. The forms should be filled out and signed before any research takes place.

ISEF STEM College Fair

If your institution or organization is interested in a unique way to engage with top international high school STEM talent, the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) is your opportunity to do just that.

Affiliation Requirements

ISEF/Affiliated Fairs: It is a requirement that affiliated fairs adhere to the International Rules for Precollege Science Research: Guidelines for Science and Engineering Fairs (ISEF Rules) and that students, teachers and parents are informed about these requirements so that they use ISEF forms from the start of research. Students that do not receive the appropriate approvals or complete the necessary ISEF forms in the proper timeline may not qualify for competition at the ISEF.

ISEF Fees

Find information on Regeneron ISEF fees and payment deadlines. Affiliated fairs pay both affiliation fees and registration fees.

Special Award Organizations

Each year professional organizations, representing government, industry and education across a wide variety of scientific disciplines, affiliate with Regeneron ISEF as Special Award Organizations to provide awards from their respective organizations.

Special Awards provide opportunities for students to be recognized beyond the Grand Awards in 22 categories. Further, Special Awards provide opportunities for participating companies and organizations to publicly illustrate their commitment to STEM education.
