Maria Grimmett, Broadcom MASTERS and Intel ISEF Alumna, Continues Water Quality Research

Maria Elena Grimmett was a Broadcom MASTERS finalist in both 2011 and 2012. In 2012, she won the first place award in Mathematics. Maria also won a third award in Environmental Science at Intel ISEF 2013. She recently published her research in the Journal of Environmental Quality. Below she talks about her experiences in both SSP educational competitions and conducting research on water quality.

Sayoni Saha is an Angier B. Scholar from Los Angeles, CA studying Neuroscience and Russian at Duke University. She researches in a neurobiology lab, plays with the Duke Symphony Orchestra, competes on the Duke Model United Nation travel team, and will serve as Duke’s sophomore class Vice President.  Sayoni was one of 40 finalists in the Intel Science Talent Search 2012.

Broadcom MASTERS Nominee Attends Iron Man 3 Event

Stephen Coyne was a 2012 Broadcom MASTERS nominee, and one of 12 finalists selected to participate in Marvel’s Iron Man 3 Inventor and Innovator Fair. Students had the opportunity to attend the Iron Man 3 premiere, meet Robert Downey, Jr., and have their projects displayed at the El Capitan Theater. Broadcom MASTERS is a national STEM competition for 6th-8th grade students.

Broadcom MASTERS International Students Close Out Program by Sharing Stories

Broadcom MASTERS International is a companion program to the domestic Broadcom MASTERS that provides a unique opportunity to attend the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair for select middle school students from around the world. Delegates participate in a program structured specifically for them, as well as participate in various facets of Intel ISEF. This year, 18 delegates from 13 countries participated in the event.

Thursday, May 16th was a big day in the Intel ISEF Expo Hall­ -- more than 4,000 local students, teachers, and families visited booths devoted to everything from reptiles to robots to space exploration.
