STEM Outreach Programs

Society for Science is committed to expanding access to high-quality STEM education for all students. Increasing STEM literacy empowers students with the critical thinking and decision-making skills necessary to live healthy, civically engaged and economically productive lives.

Advocate Program

The Society created the Advocate Program to provide mentors to encourage all students to enter their projects in science research competitions. The Advocates receive training and support from Society staff, a $3,000 stipend and a paid trip to Washington, D.C., to meet in person at a weekend-long convening.

Founded in 1921, Society for Science is a nonprofit membership organization. Its vision is to promote the understanding and appreciation of science and the vital role it plays in human advancement: to inform, educate, and inspire. The Society operates from its original historic home in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, D.C.

Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees provides leadership and guidance to Society for Science. Board members are volunteers selected based on their dedicated commitment to science, education and the Society’s mission of informing, educating and inspiring.
