Carolyn Jons Inspired to Pursue Life of Science

Carolyn Jons received the Rising Star Award at the 2011 Broadcom MASTERS, winning her a trip to Broadcom MASTERS International, held in conjunction with the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair. In 2012, she again qualified as a Broadcom MASTERS finalist, where she went on to win the 2nd Place Engineering Award. In 2013, she returned to Intel ISEF as a finalist with her project on food preservation.

Robert Lynch Shares Memories of the 1942 Science Talent Search

Robert Lynch was a finalist in the original Science Talent Search held in 1942. Due to his participation in STS, Robert won a scholarship to a local college and went on to become a clinical biochemist at the Medical College of Virginia.

Broadcom MASTERS Semifinalists Announced

SSP and Broadcom Foundation announced the 300 semifinalists for the 2013 Broadcom MASTERS on August 7. Semifinalists come from 253 middle schools in 43 states and represent 123 science fairs across the United States, including Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

Randa Flinn's Students Attend White House Science Fair

Randa Flinn, a 2010 SSP Fellow, is a science teacher at Northeast High School in Oakland Park, Florida who helps students conduct independent student research. Among other successes, two of her students were invited to attend the White House Science Fair this past spring.

Intel Science Talent Search 2014 Applications Now Open

The Intel Science Talent Search (Intel STS), a program of Society for Science & the Public, is the nation’s most prestigious pre-college science competition, providing an important forum for original student research. Alumni have made extraordinary contributions to science and hold more than 100 of the world’s most distinguished science and math honors, including the Nobel Prize. 

"Rising Star" Makes Friends, Memories, and Learns About STEM

Cassie Drury from Louisville, Kentucky won one of two Rising Star awards at the 2012 Broadcom MASTERS, a national competition for 6th-8th grade students. This award included participation in Broadcom MASTERS International, a companion program that provides a unique opportunity to attend the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair for select middle school students from around the world.
