The Intel Science Talent Search (Intel STS) is America’s most prestigious science research competition for high school seniors. Since 1942, first in partnership with Westinghouse and beginning in 1998 with Intel, SSP has provided a national stage for America’s best and brightest young scientists to present original research to nationally recognized professional scientists.

SSP is honored by Intel's commitment to this program through 2016.

SSP and Intel top winner of the Intel STS 2010

Intel and SSP are honored to announce Erica DeBenedictis of Albuquerque, NM as top winner of the Intel STS 2010. She received a $100,000 award from the Intel Foundation for her project developing a software navigation system to help improve spacecraft travel through the solar system. Erika's research found that the gravity and movement of planets create easy transit routes, which will ultimately help spacecraft move faster and with less fuel.

This year's Intel Science Talent Search Finalists hailed from 18 states, representing 36 schools. Of the 1,736 high school seniors who entered the Intel STS 2010, 300 were announced as Semifinalists in January. Of those, 40 were chosen as Finalists and invited to Washington, D.C., to compete for $630,000 in awards, including a top award of $100,000.
