Behind the Scenes Updates and Reminders for Intel ISEF and Broadcom MASTERS

With science fair season in full swing, the Society is gearing up for this year’s competitions. Here’s a preview of important 2015 program updates.

Intel ISEF categories expanded in 2015

The Society and the Intel ISEF Judging Advisory Committee are pleased to announce that for Intel ISEF 2015, there will be 20 categories in which students will compete. These categories have been selected to represent the depth and breadth of research at Intel ISEF and best align judge expertise with the projects.

The first step in judging is for a finalist to select the category that best defines their work. This selection allows students to compete against similar projects, and most importantly to be judged by experts in the field. It is NOT expected that affiliated fairs will adopt these categories as they are intended to manage the more than 1,300 projects seen at Intel ISEF and may not be appropriate for a smaller universe of projects.

A note to Intel ISEF finalists: review the categories thoroughly! Consult with an Adult Supervisor and other mentors and to be deliberate and thoughtful in this selection.

Intel ISEF Display & Safety Volunteer Application Open

The Society is seeking volunteers to serve on the Intel ISEF Display & Safety Committee. The application is due on January 9, 2015 and can be found online.
