About Cecil D. Haney
In 2017, Four-star Admiral Cecil D. Haney retired after 38 years of distinguished service in the United States Navy. Haney competed in ISEF in 1973–1974 and the 1974 STS before earning his bachelor’s degree in ocean engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and his master’s in engineering acoustics from the Naval Postgraduate School. Haney held several command positions throughout his service, culminating in his command of the U.S. Pacific Fleet (2012–2013) and of the U.S. Strategic Command (2013–2016).
Haney earned numerous awards and decorations throughout his career, including two Defense Distinguished Service Medals, two Navy Commendation Awards, and four Legions of Merit.
