The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, a program of Society for Science & the Public, announced its top winners in San Jose, Calif. Amy Chyao of Richardson, Texas, received the first-place Gordon E. Moore Award, a $75,000 prize in honor of the Intel co-founder and retired chairman and CEO.  Two additional top winners – Kevin Ellis of Vancouver, Wash. and Yale Fan, of Beaverton, Ore. – each received prizes of $50,000 from the Intel Foundation.

Council of the American Meteorological Society awards Sid Perkins annual award for Distinguished Science Journalism WASHINGTON, D.C. – November 3, 2009Society for Science & the Public (SSP), publisher of Science News magazine, announced today that the Council of the American Meteorological Society voted to designate Science News writer Sid Perkins recipient of the Distinguished Science Journalism Award in the Atmospheric and Related Sciences.  At its recent meeting, the Council selected Sid
