An evening to celebrate the Regeneron Science Talent Search 2021 scholars

While we’re all eager to safely gather in-person again, virtual events can have advantages too. For the first time in the competition’s 80-year history, the top 300 scholars in the Regeneron STS 2021 had an opportunity to e-meet. Over 270 high school seniors, including a scholar from Singapore, joined together to celebrate their incredible accomplishments as young scientists and engineers.

STS alumni, Maya Ajmera, the Society’s President and CEO, and George D. Yancopoulos, Co-Founder, President and Chief Scientific Officer of Regeneron, delivered encouraging remarks. Maya noted that it was now up to each and every one of the scholars “to solve our most intractable problems.” George echoed that sentiment and acknowledged the students as “part of a very special club of individuals” poised to tackle both present and future challenges. Then, participants got to know each other in multiple breakout rooms with different activities, including sharing their research, learning about Regeneron internship opportunities and playing games such as Geoguessr and Skribbl.
