Martin Karplus, a pioneering theoretical chemist, Nobel laureate and alumnus of the 1947 Science Talent Search passed away on December 28, 2024, at his home in Cambridge, Mass., at the age of 94.

Jan 2025: The Society is seeking a Senior Specialist, Grants and Engagement to support the Science Education Programs Department. This position reports to the Director of Outreach Programs, while also working in collaboration with the Society’s Executive Office. This is a non-exempt position.

For the sixth year, The Lemelson Foundation is giving $100 awards to outstanding young inventors in Society Affiliate Fairs with middle school participants around the country. The prize was created to reward young inventors whose projects exemplify the ideals of inventive thinking by identifying challenges in their communities and creating solutions that will improve lives.
