To further our mission of increasing science literacy and access to STEM resources, Society for Science’s Science News Learning (SN Learning) Program partnered with six educators to develop and expand the reach of Society educational resources during the 2022-2023 school year.

(Sept. 20, 2023) – Society for Science today announced the 30 finalists in the inaugural Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge (Thermo Fisher JIC), the nation’s premier middle school science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) competition. The Thermo Fisher JIC, a program of Society for Science, seeks to inspire young scientists, engineers and innovators who will solve the grand challenges of the future.

Society for Science has named David Jenkins as its new Chief Financial Officer. Jenkins comes to the Society from The Climate Reality Project, where he most recently worked as the organization’s CFO.

September 2023: Society for Science and Thermo Fisher Scientific are proud to announce the 30 finalists in the 2023 Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge — the nation’s premier STEM research competition for middle school students. The finalists will travel to Washington, DC from October 28 – November 2 to participate in the Finals Week of the competition. Each student will be judged on both their science research projects as well as their demonstration of collaboration and critical thinking skills during team challenges, emphasizing the importance and value of teamwork in STEM fields.
