STEM experiences and opportunities for Middle School Research Teachers Conference attendees
The Society’s second Middle School Research Teachers Conference will take place virtually this weekend, September 11-13. We are excited to welcome 163 teachers from 25 states, Washington, DC, Puerto Rico and American Samoa to this peer-led event where they will be able to share their expertise with one another and learn best practices. The online conference will also include two “halls” where teachers will have an opportunity to take virtual tours, play STEM games, find interactive lessons, and learn about organizations that offer professional development, resources and grants for educators. Below are some of the organizations that will have virtual booths for teachers to visit.

At the STEM Experiential Hall:
- Explore the ocean in a brand new way with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
- Walk on Mars with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology
- Tune into one of Monterey Bay Aquarium’s 10 live cams
- Join one of BioBus at Home’s live student town halls or science classes

At the STEM Opportunities Hall:
- Find high-quality digital resources from Harvard University’s Labxchange
- Get information about the Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellowship Program
- Seek out support from the National Math + Science Initiative’s Laying the Foundation program
- Learn more about teacher coaching around STEM School Design and Digital Fabrication Labs and Maker Spaces from TIES
