
STEM Research Grants
Through the STEM Research Grant program, the Society awarded $100,000 to 52 dedicated middle and high school teachers during the 2022–2023 school year to provide their students with authentic scientific research opportunities through access to a wider breadth of scientific equipment and materials. The teachers, hailing from 24 states and the Northern Mariana Islands, are all undertaking the vital work of supporting students develop independent research projects and pursue answers to scientific questions outside of their regular curricula. As in previous years, priority consideration was given to teachers in schools that serve low-income areas or students underrepresented in STEM.
Grantees had the choice of applying for awards in the form of Society-assembled research kits valued at $1,000 each, or funds in the amount of $1,000 to $5,000 to purchase STEM-related equipment to support student research.
