Staff Writer, Science News for Students (Temporary Full Time Employee)
Science News for Students, a daily online news magazine for teens, is seeking a staff writer for a 10-month, full time, temporary position beginning in August. The staff writer will contribute news, features, explainers and other content to Science News for Students as well as assist in web production as needed. This writer will be able to handle quick turnaround news on a wide variety of topics across STEM fields as well as enterprising features and story types unique to Science News for Students, such as Scientists Say, a weekly vocabulary series with audio.
This is a full-time, on-site, temporary position in our Washington, D.C., offices located near Dupont Circle from August 12, 2019 through June 12, 2020.
Duties will include:
Ideal candidates will have a background in science journalism and experience in writing for a younger audience. Must be creative, dedicated to accuracy, hard-working and a team player. Experience in audio, social media, web production in WordPress and/or editing is a plus.
