John L. Hall, Ph.D.

Hall is a Professor Adjoint in the Physics Department of the University of Colorado/Boulder and was a founding member of JILA. He was a senior research scientist at National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) from 1961 to 2004, specializing in lasers, precision measurements and standards. His last title at NIST was “Senior NIST Fellow”. He is the author of approximately 275 peer reviewed publications and holds 11 US and 1 international patents.

He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Inventors. He received the 2005 Nobel Prize in Physics for co-development of the optical frequency comb and related techniques.
