Broadcom MASTERS Semifinalists Announced

SSP and Broadcom Foundation announced the 300 semifinalists for the 2013 Broadcom MASTERS on August 7. Semifinalists come from 253 middle schools in 43 states and represent 123 science fairs across the United States, including Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

Students are nominated to compete in the Broadcom MASTERS after placing in the top 10% at their SSP-affiliated science fair. This year, there was an all-time high of 1,695 entrants. Broadcom MASTERS (Math, Applied Science, Technology, and Engineering for Rising Stars), a program of Society for Science & the Public, is the national science, technology, engineering, and math competition for U.S. 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.

Congratulations to the semifinalists! Read the official press release or view the full listing of semifinalists, by state.

The thirty finalists will be announced on August 27. Finalists will have the opportunity to travel to Washington, DC where they will showcase their projects to the public and compete as teams in hands-on STEM activities. Members of the public in the Washington, DC area on Saturday, September 28 are invited to meet the finalists at the Broadcom MASTERS Science and Engineering Project Showcase  held at the National Geographic Museum. This event is free of charge and groups are welcome.
