Mike is a senior advisor to the CEO at the Society for Science & the Public, focusing on content licensing, partnerships and web development initiatives. He joined the Society in September 2012 as Chief Content Officer, and led development and implementation of a new digital strategy for the Society, including re-launching the online and tablet versions of Science News magazine and expanding the Society's capabilities and reach in science journalism and education.
Prior to his current position, Mike was Editorial Director of CQ Roll Call, where he oversaw the 200-person newsroom and editorial product development for this division of The Economist Group. In this capacity he drove editorial direction, mission and quality of all CQ Roll Call print and digital products and publications, launched new digital products and managed editorial operations and publishing systems.
Previously, Mike served as Editor of the Washington Business Journal, Executive Editor for Congressional Quarterly, Vice President for Business Development for Aether Systems of Owings Mills, Maryland and staff writer for The Washington Post, where he covered the technology and telecom industries and policy.
Mike has a master’s degree from American University and a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. He lives in Bethesda, Maryland with his wife and two daughters.
