SSP sponsored a student podcast contest to celebrate the premiere of the movie Whiz Kids in Washington, D.C. that was held on December 9, 2009. This effort sought to bring attention to the critical need for all students to have the opportunity to participate in high-quality independent scientific research.Students who attended the Whiz Kids Premiere were encouraged to submit either an audio or video podcast answering the following question:
How can science and scientific research be an avenue to making a difference in the world?
There were two categories for the competition, Individual and Teams, and top winners are as follows:
