How You Can Get Involved... The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF), a program of Society for Science & the Public, and the world's largest international pre-college science competition, is coming to Los Angeles!

SSP is honored by Intel's commitment to this program through 2019.

The premier global science competition for students in grades 9–12 provides an annual forum for more than 1,600 high school students from nearly 60 countries, regions, and territories to display their independent research.

Housing for the Intel ISEF 2011 in Los Angeles

SSP has secured a sufficient number of hotel rooms at properties proximate to the Los Angeles Convention Center at reduced rates for the benefit of all Intel ISEF attendees.  SSP now has a contractual obligation to fill these rooms; therefore, we strongly encourage you to book your rooms through the official Intel ISEF Housing web site.  If you need less than 6 rooms, then please click on this link in order to book rooms for this year’s event.  If you need 6 rooms or more, then please contact Marisa Gaggi at mgaggi@societyforscience.org or call at 202-872-5104. 

Please also keep in mind the following when booking housing for Intel ISEF 2011. 

PASSKEY INTRODUCTION
For the 2011 Intel ISEF, Society for Science & the Public and Experient, Inc. will be utilizing a computerized housing reservation system called Passkey. Passkey uses an Internet-based software in conjunction with a centralized reservation database to manage hotel reservations. This practical, flexible solution is in use today at many major U.S. destination cities and at more than 2000 Passkey-enabled hotels. Passkey provides a more efficient and effective reservation process for the fair participant and the hotel. With Passkey, each fair director will be able to register for housing online. The online system will allow each participant to review all of the hotels available and it also allows each participant to make changes (see details below under deadlines for applicable/permitted online changes) to his/her reservations as close as a month prior to the Intel ISEF. It also e-mails a Passkey acknowledgement number within 24 hours of reservations being made to confirm receipt of each reservation.

TO MAKE RESERVATIONS:

• Start by entering your dates and the number of rooms you need.
• If you need to make 2-5 room reservations, you may do so on the second screen when you have a choice of hotels.
• If you need more than 6 rooms, please contact Marisa Gaggi mgaggi@societyforscience.org at Society for Science & the Public.
• Rooms submitted under a school, district, or company name alone will not be accepted.

CREDIT CARD GUARANTEE:

• All room reservations must be guaranteed by a valid major credit card.

DEPOSIT:

• Your credit card will be charged one night's deposit on or around April 12, 2011 for each room reservation.
• This charge will be refunded if a reservation is cancelled by the deadline established by the hotel.
• Cash is accepted at check-in.
• All major valid credit & bank cards are accepted at check-in.
• Corporate & personal checks are accepted if hand carried to the hotel and provided at check-in.
  Note: The Wilshire Grand Hotel requires that corporate and personal checks be received by the hotel two weeks prior to the check in date.
  • DO NOT SEND ANY CHECKS TO EXPERIENT, HOTELS OR Society for Science & the Public PRIOR TO ARRIVAL.
  • A $50 per room per night deposit is required to have incidentals, such as phone, internet, mini-bar, parking etc. accessible during the stay. Credit cards, bank cards, or cash are acceptable forms of payment for this deposit.

ROOM AVAILABILITY:

• Rooms requested via this form are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
• If rooms are no longer available in your hotel choices, you will be placed in a hotel based on availability.

CHANGES:All changes to your reservations must be made by April 6, 2011.

• Date changes will be made on a space available basis.
• Changes to specific portions of your reservation-- the name, address, date, special room requests, room type, and roommate(s)-- can be made online, by fax, mail, or email (see below for contact information).

TAX RATE

• All guest room rates are subject to the local Los Angeles, CA taxes and occupancy fees, which currently total 14% of the room rate. Taxes are subject to change without notice.

CANCELLATIONS POLICY: IMPORTANT!

• Cancellations received by March 12, 2011, will not be charged a fee.
• Cancellations received on/after March 13, 2011 will be subject to a $50 cancellation fee (including reservations made on March 13)
• Cancellations must be submitted to the housing bureau in writing by April 6, 2011 (online, fax, mail or email).
• Cancellations made on or after April 10, 2011 and no shows are subject to the forfeiture of one night’s room and tax.
• Failure to arrive on your scheduled night or no shows will result in the forfeiture of your deposit and cancellation of your reservation.
