Once you have registered, your name will be listed as an official nominee of the SSP Middle School program on our website at www.societyforscience.org and on our Science News for Kids site at www.sciencenewsforkids.org. Registering will also provide you the opportunity to come back before the final deadline of June 4, 2008 to complete the required essays about your science fair project experience. An entrant prize will be sent to all students who complete the online entry and mail in the required items by the June 4 deadline.

2008 SSP Middle School Program Nominee List

Entries will be judged during the summer and in August, SSP will announce the top 300 national semifinalists and the 30 finalists of the 2008 SSP Middle School Program.

Finalists will come with one parent to an all-expense paid trip to Washington, DC from October 18-22, 2008 to compete in the SSP Middle School Program finals. During this time, finalists will present their original science fair projects and will compete in team science activities. This will test your knowledge of science, your problem-solving, teamwork and leadership skills. Top finalists will win scholarships, prizes and scientific excursions.

But, to have a chance at being a finalist, you must first register and then enter the competition by completing the essays and the required materials by June 4, 2008.
