Broadcom Foundation and SSP announce the top winners of the 2012 Broadcom MASTERS!
Congratulations to Raymond Gilmartin, 14, of South Pasadena, California, who won the $25,000 Samueli Foundation Grand Prize for overall STEM excellence, mastery of STEM principles during the weeklong competition, and his project on the effect of rear spoilers on drag and lift in cars. Raymond has exemplified how research and innovation are dependent on the integration of these disciplines and the impact they collectively have on our everyday lives.
The 2012 finalists came to Washington, DC during Broadcom MASTERS week (September 28 – October 3, 2012), to showcase their projects for the public and compete as teams in hands-on STEM activities. While in Washington, DC, the students enjoyed an exciting introduction to the nation's capital, experiencing historical sites and organizations that celebrate innovation, science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
